MacParsley is built so your meetings stay yours. This page says exactly what the app and this website do with information.
Your meetings stay on your Mac
Recordings, transcripts, summaries, mind maps, speaker voice prints, names and notes are stored as files in a folder you choose on your Mac, plus a small database of your settings. MacParsley has no servers of its own and no account. We never receive your meetings.
No analytics, no tracking
The app has no analytics, advertising or tracking of any kind, and doesn't report how you use it. This website sets no cookies and runs no analytics or tracking scripts. Like any web server, the hosting company keeps standard access logs (address, page, browser) for security and running the site.
When something does leave your Mac
Only when you set it up, and only to the service you chose:
- AI providers you add (for example OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Mistral, Groq, DeepSeek, xAI, Perplexity, Moonshot or OpenRouter), with your own key: the transcript, and the prompt, are sent to that provider to write a summary or title. MacParsley asks before sending a meeting to a cloud provider. Models that run on your Mac or your own network (Apple's, Ollama, LM Studio) send nothing out.
- Recording services you connect (Plaud, Pocket, Fireflies.ai, note1.ai): MacParsley reads your recordings from them, and if you choose one to transcribe or summarize, sends it the meeting's audio. Audio for Fireflies goes through cloud storage you set up yourself (Cloudflare R2, Amazon S3, Backblaze B2 or Wasabi).
- Web links and podcasts you import are downloaded from where they are; podcast search uses Apple's podcast directory.
- Speech models are downloaded the first time you choose one (from Apple, or from Hugging Face for Whisper, Parakeet and speaker separation).
- The AI apps (MCP) server, if you turn it on, answers only apps on your own Mac that have the key you gave them.
Those services' own privacy policies apply to what they receive. Keys and passwords for them are kept in your Mac's Keychain.
Licensing and payments
MacParsley is sold by Polar, which handles the checkout, payment and your license key as the merchant of record; we don't see your card details. When you activate a key, the app sends Polar the key, your Mac's name (so you can tell your activations apart) and the app's version, and checks the key with Polar about once a week. Polar's privacy policy covers what it keeps. We receive your name, email address and what you bought, to support you.
Updates
MacParsley checks for new versions by reading a small file from this website and downloads updates from GitHub. The check sends nothing about you or your meetings; like any download, the servers see your internet address.
Support
If you email us, we use your message, and the diagnostics file if you attach it, only to help you. The diagnostics file never includes your meetings, their titles, transcripts or summaries, people's names, or any keys or passwords, and you can read it before sending.
Recording other people
Laws on recording calls differ from place to place; some require everyone's consent. You're responsible for recording only where it's allowed and for telling the people you record when the law requires it.
Children
MacParsley isn't directed at children under 13.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date. Questions: support@macparsley.com.
