note1.ai
note1.ai is a cloud service that records and summarizes meetings. MacParsley can send a meeting's audio to it and add note1's summary as a new version. Like Fireflies.ai, note1 works from the audio, so using it sends recordings off your Mac. MacParsley asks once before it first does that.
Unlike Fireflies, note1 takes the file directly, so no audio storage is needed.
What you need
- A note1 account.
- A personal access token: in note1 open Account → API tokens, name it and create it. It's shown once. You can revoke it there at any time.
Each recording sent uses one of your note1 meeting allowances, and note1 keeps the meeting in your account until you delete it there.
Set it up
- Open Settings → Summaries, open the Summarization Model menu and choose Configure Additional Models.
- In the window that opens, click note1.ai under Work from the audio, paste the token and click Save. It shows Connected to note1 with a green check.
- Back in Summarization Model, choose note1.ai (it's listed now). MacParsley asks you to confirm that audio will be sent.
- Choose Write summaries for: General, Team meeting, One-on-one, Interview, Job interview, Presentation, Sales call or Stand-up. note1 shapes its summary to that kind of meeting.
The token is kept in your Keychain.
Using it
- Always. With note1 as the Summarization Model, each new meeting's audio goes to note1 and its summary is added. Your Mac still makes the transcript. If note1 can't take a recording, MacParsley summarizes it as usual and says why.
- For one meeting. In Resummarize, choose note1.ai in the Model menu. Or, when importing, choose Custom → note1.ai under Summarization.
- Not twice. A meeting that note1 already has isn't sent again; MacParsley reads its summary from note1.
What comes back
The summary is laid out like MacParsley's own: Overview, Key points, then note1's sections with their time ranges, Action items as checkboxes, Topics and Questions. note1 has no templates or styles in MacParsley, so those choices don't apply to its summaries.
What isn't supported
- note1's transcript isn't used. note1's export returns only the first few minutes of a long recording, so your Mac's transcript stays.
- Importing meetings from note1 isn't offered. note1 gives no way to download a meeting's audio, and its transcript is cut short, so an imported meeting would be incomplete.
- Files up to about 2 GB; the limit comes from your note1 workspace.
